http://biodiversity.sls.cuhk.edu.hk/ Hong Kong Biodiversity Genomics Hub and Earth BioGenome Project: Hong Kong (EBPHK) aims to sequence genomes of local animals, plants, and fungi. At the start point of the project, we will focus on the organisms that are in high concern and great interest in Hong Kong. Understanding the biodiversity on Earth is more than just scientific interests, as it can also inform how to maximise the utilisation of its resources in a sustainable way. This is both scientifically and socially important. In terms of science, it will allow better fundamental understanding of the evolution and interactions of organisms on earth, and socially, it will allow new applications development as well as using the resources in a sustainable way.

Chitons (Polyplacophora) are marine molluscs that can be found worldwide from cold waters to the tropics, and play important ecological roles in the environment. Nevertheless, there remains only two chiton genomes sequenced to date. The chiton Liolophura japonica (Lischke, 1873)...

Hong Kong Biodiversity Genomics Consortium, 2023, "Chromosomal-level genome assembly of the long-spined sea urchin Diadema setosum (Leske, 1778)", https://doi.org/10.48668/EL1DX9, CUHK Research Data Repository, V2, UNF:6:W8LNdAHLMGftHf3k9m+xGQ== [fileUNF]
The long-spined sea urchin Diadema setosum is an algal and coral feeder widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific and can cause severe bioerosion on the reef community. Nevertheless, the lack of genomic information has hindered the study its ecology and evolution. Here, we report th...

Hong Kong Biodiversity Genomics Consortium, 2023, "Chromosomal-level genome assembly of golden birdwing Troides aeacus (Felder & Felder, 1860)", https://doi.org/10.48668/W3QGJ8, CUHK Research Data Repository, V2
The golden birdwing Troides aeacus (Lepidoptera, Papilionidae), a significant species in Asia, faces habitat loss due to urbanization and human activities, necessitating its protection. However, the lack of genomic resources hinders our understanding of their biology and diversit...
